OVERVIEW

  • Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations – Slinger/Signaller qualification is a UK recognised qualification for individuals who are associated with or want to work in the construction industry and specialise in mechanical lifting activities.
  • The major purpose of this qualification is to develop an individual’s working competence in Lifting Operations. Being a work-related, competence-based qualification, on completion it will provide the confirmation to employers, industry managers and card schemes that learners of this course have the skills and knowledge needed to meet the nationally recognised standard to carry out their job.
  • ProQual is the awarding body for this qualification. This course is regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual). The specification for these qualifications has been approved by the Welsh Government for use by centres in Wales and by the Council for the Curriculum Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) for use by centres in Northern Ireland. This qualification has been accredited onto the Regulated Qualifications Framework and it provides a progression route to discipline related qualifications.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. Oshtree will carry out an initial assessment of candidate skills and knowledge to identify any gaps and help plan the assessment.

The number of units to be completed varies by pathways but all the pathways consist of the following mandatory units in addition to the pathway’s specific units:

    • Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
    • Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
    • Attaching and preparing suspended loads for movement using lifting accessories in the workplace
    • guiding, positioning and placing suspended loads in the workplace

Unit Endorsement: The following endorsement required (i.e. own area of work): Slinger/signaller

Candidates who achieve the requirements for qualifications will be awarded:

  • A certificate listing all units achieved, and
  • A certificate giving the full qualification title:
