OVERVIEW

  • • The major objective of this qualification is to be a mode of recognition for the knowledge, skills and competence of professionals who specialise in steel erecting in the construction and engineering industries.
  • • This course is appropriate for those who wish to progress in their career in steel erecting and hence improving their employability and help to progress their career.
  • • On completion of this qualification, the learner will have earned the skills, knowledge and understanding and demonstrated competence to progress on to a higher-level qualification in the same or similar occupational area or enable entry into supervisory and management positions.
  • • After achievement of this level 3 qualification a learner may wish to further knowledge and complete another qualification at a higher level. After achieving the NVQ Level 3, you can apply for your Gold Supervisory CSCS card.
  • • The awarding organisation for this qualification is ProQual Awarding Body and the regulatory body is the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual).
  • Course Content
  • • Learners must complete all of the Mandatory units.
  • • Contribute to effective working relationships in steel erection
  • • Work safely and minimise risk in steel erection
  • • Identify and deal with hazards and emergencies in steel erection
  • • Prepare structural leads for moving and installing
  • • Move structural steel sections
  • • Install structural steelwork components
  • • Work safely at height on steel structures
  • • Assemble bolted joints in structural steelwork
  • • Determine technical requirements for steel erecting
  • • Determine resource requirements for steel erecting
  • Candidates may also complete any of the Additional Units.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. Oshtree will carry out an initial assessment of candidate skills and knowledge to identify any gaps and help plan the assessment.
